Deception of the Prosperity Gospel

Contending for the faith and learning how to spot a fake

What is the biggest lie ever told and that continues to successfully deceive humanity? The answer is: Did God really say that?

Satan, centuries ago, deceived Eve and Adam with this question (Gen. 3:4-5). He also tried it on Jesus during his time of temptation, but it did not work (Mark 1:9-13). Jesus came back at the devil and basically said, "No! That is not what my Father intended. That is not what the scripture means so stop trying to twist it and use it against me so that I can serve you." (Emphasis, mine) Satan’s plan is to use the very thing that cleanses us with (John 15:3) to pollute us.

Does Romans 8:26 mean praying in tongues?

Biblical clarity about our "prayer language" Does Romans 8:26 mean “praying in tongues”?

Romans 8:26-27 “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities (weakness or lack of strength) for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is in the mind of the Spirit according to the will of God.”

I find these two scriptures interesting. Some interpret this scripture to mean that the Holy Ghost is praying for or through us as we “pray in tongues” or “use our prayer language.” It is believed by many that when we “pray in tongues” the Holy Ghost is interceding for us. As I read this text over and over along with the entire chapter, I found out that verses 26 and 27 neither implies or indicates that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us as we speak in tongues. This one passage actually has nothing to do with tongues:

False Worship and Mysticism in the Church

What does the bible say about seeking God through praise and worship?

“Creating an atmosphere of worship”, “entering in”, “breakthrough”, “experiencing the glory cloud”, “feel His presence”, “feel His love pouring over you”???

For about two years now these terms have been bothering me. I know where the concept comes from – mostly the Old Testament, but now that I am totally sold out to Christ and I am daily His presence (fellowship and keeping myself in the love of God) why do I need to seek an “experience” outside of what the Word teaches?
